about

Simply written about feeling completely alone in the world especially when surrounded by a million strangers in a strange city.

lyrics

Lyrics: Ted Powenski

I get by with my New York attitude
No smile and not much latitude
Aggravation is a way of life for you
Apprehension and a cup of Joe

True love for the city streets
All the people for you to meet
But I still can’t find what it is I was looking for

(Chorus)

Slow Down- Take a minute to breathe
Hold On- To the essence of life
I’ll Wait- for this city to sleep
All alone- Just a few million people and me

Disease, Anti-Freeze, Smoke, Smog, a lack of trees
Hold your breath and close your eyes, it won’t be long before you kiss the sky

True love for the city streets
All the people for you to meet
But I still can’t find what it is I was looking for

Slow Down- Take a minute to breathe
Hold On- To the essence of life
I’ll Wait- for this city to sleep
All alone- Just a few million people and me

OUTTRO:

A lonely heart spread across a hundred million empty souls. Under the same sky that betrayed me long ago I walk a fine line between depravity and wretched over-indulgence. Watching as humanity continues to simultaneously devolve and revolve, I can’t bare to exhale my thoughts into such madness. Like many others, I’ve recoiled. Is there any sense in standing up for oneself? Is respect nothing but a sign of weakness? Is self-aggrandizement now considered our societal norm? When is enough, enough? When will we hurt just enough to consider an about face? When is it time to stand up for ourselves?

(Outtro):

Fall down at the knees for me.
Watch as time moves on, cause we are afraid to fear.
Hold on to this imagery. Waste away with time, cause we all follow fear.

Fall down at the knees for me. Watch as time moves on, cause we are afraid to fear.
Hold on to this imagery. Waste away with time, cause we all follow fear.

I want to scream at the top of my lungs, plead with others but I know that no one will hear me. So, I keep my gaze forward while my mind continues to wander. Am I the only one? Or maybe I’m the one who is losing his mind. Maybe I am the one who is trespassing in your abyss of self-love and ostentatious behavior. Maybe love really is just not enough to heal all wounds. Or, maybe our wounds just run too deep. Lest we forget how it feels to be lapped by the ocean water, or to feel a cool breeze run across our skin. How it feels to love or be loved. What it means to feel or how it feels to be alive....
